Basically anything... if you work in a restaurant, theater, any type of entertainment like arcades, batting cages, amusement parks, blah blah.... anything. Let's trade!! Anything we have at Asian Man is up for trade. 10:49 AM Greetings friends.. the non stop flurry of releases continues. 2 more to announce: COMING OUT APRIL 13th -VIC RUGGIERO/PHIL NERGES -"Don't feed the cats in Iraq"-CD AND BOOK RELEASE The book and cd are based on Phil Nerges's experiences as a civilian working in Iraq during the height of the war. Phil came back from Iraq very inspired and slightly shell shocked, with a book full of poems, stories and things he knew were songs...Phil asked Vic Ruggiero if he could put the words into songs. The result is “Don’t Feed The Cats In Iraq”. 8 songs and another 7 tracks of readings done by Phil Nerges....not overtly political as much as it documents the lives and perspective of these people who are not the soldiers, but regular working folks in the middle of utter chaos ... The music is basically Americana, because that's the vibe Vic got from a lot of the stories... but its a wide range... johnny cash, creepy texas swing, hippie dylan-ish, and even a bit of post punk reggae Pretty amazing release and something we are quite excited about. COMING OUT MAY 11th -KEVIN SECONDS- “Good Luck Buttons” CD + 12” I’ve made it no secret that Kevin Seconds is a hero of mine. My youth was spent listening to 7 SECONDS and I truly feel the music helped shape a lot of my ideas about punk and life in general. The positive hard core that made me think instead of just circle pit. Getting to spend time with Kevin over the past few years has been even more inspiring. To see a man who was the real deal, instead of some old jaded punk rocker, I found a true artist who loved music so very much. This second release on Asian Man delivers more honest and sincere music that’s hard not to like. Definitely has that folksy vibe in the style of punk gone acoustic artists like Chuck Ragan, but all the same staying fresh and unique. By the way, Kevin will be hitting the road this week with Greg from the bouncing souls, kepi ghoulie, and shanti wintergate. Here are the tour dates: February 18 - Reno, NV @ Seven Teahouse February 19 - Berkeley, CA @ 924 Gilman February 20 - Sacramento, CA @ Naked Lounge Downtown February 21 - Santa Cruz, CA @ The Crepe Place February 22 - San Luis Obispo, CA @ Downtown Brew February 23 - Santa Barbara, CA @ Velvet Jones February 24 - Glendale, CA @ LaBrie's February 25 - Riverside, CA @ Back To The Grind February 26 - Pomona, CA @ Glass House Records February 27 - Carlsbad, CA @ Hensley's Flying Elephant So here's what we got coming out... please mark your calendars: FOR THE WIN -S/T (April 13th) LAURA STEVENSON AND THE CANS -"A Record"(April 13th) VIC RUGGIERO/PHIL NERGES-"Don't Feed The Cats in Iraq"(April 13th) THE HOT TODDIES -"Get Your Heart On"(May 11th) THE WILD -"Set Ourselves Free"(May 11th) KEVIN SECONDS-"Good Luck Buttons"(May 11th) KUDROW/HARD GIRLS-Split 7"(sometime in May/June) ANDREW JACKSON JIHAD-"Candy Cigarettes, Capguns, Issue Problems! and Such"(probably June) MATT SKIBA-"DEMOS"(sometime in July/August) + more SMOKING POPES re-issues, BTMI vinyl re-issues, MIKE PARK(new full length and children's album) and more!!! We will be closing our Haiti donation package deal tomorrow. Don't have an exact total, but it's over $2,000 now. So thank you so much for helping out and enjoying some music at the same time. Remarkably, I still have 21 KEPI VALENTINES left. Not sure why we haven't sold out as we have done in the last few years, but I will keep this up for the next two days and then I'm gonna give the rest to KEPI to sell at his shows, so yup... if you want one, this is your last chance. Smoking Popes record release is this weekend at Reggies in Chicago. First 50 people at each show get a copy of the new album "It's Been A Long Day". The band has promised to play most the songs off the record, so it's a great chance to see them play the old old stuff live. Darn, that's a lot this week. Hope it was somewhat interesting. Be well friends. peace, mike park |
