The worst natural disaster has hit the United States. Will we succeed in unifying or will the looting and capitalism draw out the worst in us?
The entire city of New Orleans is shut down. Can you imagine? This is insane. As the Plea For Peace Foundation prepares to embark on a bike trip that will take us 1,400 miles down the coast, our minds are with those who have lost everything. If you were planning on donating to the bike tour, we ask that you instead donate to the Hurricane Relief projects.

PS-I just got this letter from a friend who has worked with plea for peace in the past. She is living in Houston and volunteering with relief efforts there. Here is the letter, if anyone can help out, please get in touch with her.
Hey Mike
Just thought I would write you a quick a letter to see how you were doing
and tell you about my day yesterday.
I woke about 8 a.m. and headed over to the Astrodome/Reliant Center and
volunteered all day in the eating and clothing area and while I can say
these people have plenty to eat, they have nothing to wear.
My job in clothing was to ask girls what they needed and find it for them in
huge boxes, only it was very rare that I could find them something -- I'm
not saying there are not clothes -- there are a lot but things that I have
always taken for granted, i.e. jeans and t-shirts are almost no where to be
found. All day girls would ask me for jeans and I had to tell them no, plus
if any one was bigger than a size 10 they were out of luck ... It was really
disheartening and I know people are donating it just seems like it takes too
long to get there. So i was wondering if you could put something on your Web
site and if kids who maybe can't send money could mail an old pair of jeans
or khaki capris or old t-shirts than i could maybe find the means to give
them out to the people who need them. This isn't just limited to girls --
boys too. If everyone could mail like a pair of jeans and a t-shirt that
would be awesome.
I know you are on tour and busy, but if you find the time that would be
awesome.
