6-12-07 10:53 AM It's insane how much stuff I have that I don't ever listen to, wear, play with, watch, read, or use. Therefore it's clearance time and I'm putting up all my stuff on ebay over the next few weeks. So if you want to see what I got, then click here for rare 7", 12", t-shirts, etc.. I'll be adding stuff daily, so check it out: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZpunkrockorders When I was a junior in high school, I went to the local arts cinema(Camera One for those of you from San Jose) to see a double feature. It was the Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense" and the British 2-TONE SKA documentary called "Dance Craze". It was the first and only experience of people dancing in the aisles. Or should I call it Skankin(well, not for STOP MAKING SENSE, just DANCE CRAZE)? If you can imagine a half full movie theater full of mods, skinheads, and rude boys doing the SKA while the big screen had the SPECIALS playing Message To You Rudy, then well..... you would have the image that is in my memory. Anyways, one of the bands in that documentary is called BAD MANNERS. The day after the movie, I went to the local record store and found their cassette tape called "KLASS". It was listened to non-stop for the next decade. And even after 30 years, the band still tours and will be playing the US starting next week. I'm so excited. Seriously, I feel like a young kid waiting for my favorite band to come on tour. If you've never heard them or seen them, please check out this link on youtube. http://youtube.com/watch?v=F6fQnTyEniM&mode=related&search= What do you think? And our very own MONKEY is playing the support slot for their entire tour. You can check dates here:myspace.com/monkeyska We're just a bit more than a month away from the ASIAN MAN 11 YEAR ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND. REFRESH: On July 21st, we will celebrate the 11 year anniversary of Asian Man Records with the following bands at a DIY show set up in the parking lot before the A's game: THE LAWRENCE ARMS DAN POTTHAST THE HOT TODDIES ANDREW JACKSON JIHAD PTERADON and SHINOBU Here's the info: The gates open at 4 PM ish. We'll be set up in the far north corner of the parking lot right next to the freeway. Look for a white tent that blazes PLEA FOR PEACE on top situated next to a red van. Basically, as soon as they open the gates, we'll set up and start putting bands on. Hopefully we don't get shut down, but the chance to do a DIY show in the parking lot of the Oakland Coliseum is too good. Everything of course is totally free and we will provide complimentary hot dogs, sodas, and beer for those of you who are 21+. A bunch of us will also be watching the game. So if you want to see the game and sit together as a group, then just buy the cheapest ticket which is upper reserve and meet us in SECTION 238. By the way it's the A's vs. the Mariners. GO A'S!!! For more info.. just hit me up with an email mikeasianman@aol.com and I can let you know anything you wish to know. We will also be hosting a formal club show at the BOTTOM OF THE HILL on FRIDAY JULY 20th. Same lineup, same excitement, but no free hot dogs. If you are coming from out of town and have any questions, please don't be scared to ask. That is all.. Peace, Mike Park |
